Cambodia and Thailand Hold RBC Secretariat Meeting to Strengthen Border Peace and Cooperation
Phnom Penh, 10 October 2025 — The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has announced that the Secretariats of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodia and Thailand convened a bilateral meeting this morning, October 10, 2025, at the Cambodian-Thai Liaison Group Hall located at the O’Smach International Border Gate in Oddar Meanchey Province.
The meeting was held in response to the invitation of the Head of Cambodia’s RBC Secretariat, the Commander of the 4th Military Region, and brought together the Cambodian 4th Military Region and the Thai 2nd Army Area.
The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region, while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Kamphanat Waphansuk, Chief of Staff of the 2nd Army Area.
During the meeting, both sides discussed three key agenda items:
1. Introduction of the Composition of the Coordination Group (CG) of both sides;
2. Reaffirmation of Commitment to de-escalate tensions along the border; and
3. Preparatory Arrangements for the upcoming Regional Border Committee (RBC) Meeting, scheduled to take place from 15–17 October 2025.
The Ministry emphasized that this meeting was conducted in accordance with the mandate of the General Border Committee (GBC) of both countries and in line with the spirit of the agreements achieved during the First Extraordinary RBC Meeting held on 27 August 2025 between the 4th Military Region of Cambodia and the 2nd Army Area of Thailand.
The core objective of the meeting was to promote the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, reinforce mutual commitment to reducing tensions along the border, and enhance cooperation in maintaining peace, stability, and the prompt restoration of normalcy in the border areas between the two neighboring countries.
