Phnom Penh, 10 October 2025 — Hundreds of Thai armed forces have continued their illegal incursion into Cambodian territory in Prey Chan Village, O’Bei Chorn Commune, O’Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, in a serious violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and international law.

This provocative action follows earlier threats made by the Thai side, which had reportedly warned that its forces would use military means to expel Cambodian civilians from their homes in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey Villages on 10 October 2025.

According to field reports, this afternoon, hundreds of Thai troops, equipped with mine-sweeping devices and heavy machinery, entered Cambodian territory to clear land and expand their presence, continuing acts of aggression and illegal intrusion into the area of Prey Chan Village.

Such actions constitute a grave violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and the fundamental principles of international law, including the ceasefire agreements and the spirit and outcomes of previous meetings of the General Border Committee (GBC) and the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between the Cambodian and Thai military regions.

The Thai forces’ destruction of property and forced removal of Cambodian civilians from their lawful residences represents not only a serious breach of human rights, but also a flagrant disregard for peace and mutual understanding achieved through bilateral mechanisms.

In response to these escalating acts, the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, on 9 October 2025, renewed Cambodia’s call on the Thai side to demonstrate good faith and restraint, and to resolve border issues peacefully through existing bilateral mechanisms — namely the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), General Border Committee (GBC), and Regional Border Committee (RBC) — in full respect of treaties, agreements, and international law.

The Royal Government of Cambodia remains firmly committed to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while upholding peace, stability, and friendship between the two neighboring countries.
