Cambodia Projects 25 Million National and International Tourists and 205,000 Tons of Air Cargo by 2035

Phnom Penh, 10 October 2025 — According to a circular issued by Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, regarding the celebration of Civil Aviation Day on 7 December in Cambodia, the Kingdom is projected to welcome 25 million national and international tourists and handle 205,000 tons of air cargo by the year 2035.
The Prime Minister underlined that this target will significantly contribute to realizing Cambodia’s Vision 2050, which aspires for the country to become a high-income nation.
He recalled that on 4 April 2025, the Royal Government launched the National Policy on Air Transport 2025–2035, aimed at further advancing the Open Sky Policy initiated in 1999 by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and former Prime Minister of Cambodia.
This policy seeks to enhance competitiveness, promote economic diversification, support sustainable socio-economic development, and expand both regional and global supply and value chain connectivity. Through its implementation, Cambodia expects to achieve air transport volumes of 25 million passengers and 205,000 tons of air cargo by 2035, thus supporting the nation’s long-term goal of becoming a high-income country by 2050.
In addition, Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), relevant ministries, institutions, partners, and stakeholders to prepare for the upcoming Civil Aviation Day 2025 celebration on 7 December.
He recommended organizing various activities, including aviation exhibitions, educational visits for students, public awareness programs on aviation safety and security, and promotion of new technologies in the civil aviation sector, as well as broad public engagement to commemorate the event in meaningful and creative ways.
